About the job
The role of a DSP in our Adult Day Program includes providing opportunities, activities and training to individuals with different levels of ability. These activities are used to promote independence in the following areas: daily living (cooking, meal prep, hygiene, dressing), life skills, health and wellness, job readiness, social skills, group activities and much more. Activities include community engagement and participation as much as possible.
A DSP in Adult Day Program will also transport participants to and from the program and (in a company vehicle), assist participants in the restroom as needed, assist/ promote participants in meeting their goals, and be an overall positive role model.
Eligible staff must be at least 18 years of age.
Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
Ability to pass a drug test.
Ability to pass a criminal/registry background check.
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to obtain a Class E license (WCHS pays for Class E licensure).
Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration, CPI etc. *All trainings will be provided by WCHS.
Experience with supporting adults with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
