In the winter of 1992, WCHS opened its first Individualized Supported Living (ISL) home for three individuals in a local apartment. Since then, the ISL Program has grown to support seven individuals in three locally owned homes in Warrenton. This program provides assistance and training to enable individuals to live as independently as possible. Emphasis is on individualized planning regarding living arrangements, employment options, social interactions, daily living skills and community involvement. Supports include protective oversight up to and including 24-hour staff, personal health and safety, decision making, leisure and recreation activities and community integration. Federal, state and local funding provide financial support for housing and transportation through the Medicaid Waiver Program.
